Microsoft Fabric Data Engineer
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for a hands-on Microsoft Fabric Data Engineer to build and implement a Group-wide data platform from the ground up. You will be responsible for transforming an established target architecture, reporting roadmap, KPI framework, and data strategy into a scalable, secure, and production-ready platform. Working with SAP and non-SAP data sources, you will design and deliver data solutions that provide trusted, self-service insights while ensuring scalability, governance, and long-term maintainability.
What You Will Do on a Daily Basis
Design and implement a Microsoft Fabric environment, including capacity, domains, workspace topology, naming conventions, and lifecycle standards.
Build and optimize data ingestion processes from SAP and non-SAP sources using Fabric Data Factory, Copy Job, mirroring, gateways, notebooks, and Dataflows Gen2.
Develop and maintain medallion architecture layers within OneLake, Lakehouse, and Warehouse environments, ensuring high-performance data consumption through Direct Lake.
Implement CI/CD practices, source control, deployment pipelines, and environment parameterization across development, testing, and production stages.
Establish security, governance, monitoring, and capacity management practices while documenting solutions and enabling knowledge transfer to internal stakeholders.
Your Key Skills
Strong hands-on experience delivering Microsoft Fabric solutions in production environments, including at least one end-to-end implementation.
Advanced knowledge of T-SQL, PySpark, Delta Lake, lakehouse architecture, and medallion design patterns.
Experience with Fabric Data Factory, pipelines, Dataflows Gen2, Copy Job, mirroring, and data gateway configuration.
Solid understanding of CI/CD practices, Git integration, deployment pipelines, Fabric APIs, and automation tools.
Expertise in Fabric security, governance, workspace administration, OneLake security, RLS/CLS, sensitivity labels, Entra ID, and service principals.
Your Main Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years of experience within the Microsoft data ecosystem, including Azure Data Factory or Synapse, Azure SQL or SQL Server, ADLS Gen2, and Power BI.
Proven experience with Microsoft Fabric, ideally with 1 to 3 years of hands-on delivery in production environments.
Experience working with SAP data extraction and integration from BW, ECC, or S/4 environments.
Professional certifications such as DP-700 (Fabric Data Engineer) or DP-600 (Fabric Analytics Engineer) are considered an advantage.
Additional experience with Direct Lake semantic models, Terraform, Microsoft Purview, Real-Time Intelligence, Snowflake, or data separation/carve-out projects will be valued.
